Introducing The Woodson Fund
In response to the loss of public funding for cultural work in our region, ASALH South Florida has established The Woodson Fund.
Named for Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the Father of Black History, the Woodson Fund will support our branch’s ongoing effort to provide cultural programming in our region, as well as to provide support to South Florida cultural and educational institutions whose programs preserve and share the history and culture of African-descended peoples and who are losing funding under Florida’s new law. Grants will be awarded according to written, objective criteria approved by our Executive Council.
Dr. Woodson built a movement on community support when institutions would not support Black history. The Woodson Fund continues that tradition. Gifts of every size, from $25 to $2,500 and beyond, help keep the doors open, the programs running, and the stories told.
Gifts to The Woodson Fund will be used only for the Fund’s stated purpose.
For gifts by check, stock, or planned giving, or for questions about sponsorship, email us at asalhsouthflorida@gmail.com.
Thank you for standing with us. Our history depends on it.
